Intro to Ayurveda & Summer Balancing - Pitta

Ayurveda, ‘the science of life,” is India’s ancient system of healing, dating back to over 5,000 years. The word means knowledge of living or life cycle. It uses the wisdom of nature’s seasonal rhythms to guide us in maintaining harmony and balance in body, mind and spirit. Ayurveda and Yoga are sister sciences and both originated from the system of the Vedas. Ayurveda is the science and lifestyle and Yoga is the physical practice. Have you ever wondered how you can deepen your yoga practice and incorporate it into all areas of your life?


Understanding each seasons and the corresponding elements in nature can help inform our decisions about which diet, lifestyle, yoga poses will help us maintain balance, heal sickness, and improve our health and wellbeing.


In this workshop you will learn about the 5 elements, 4 seasons, 3 doshas, or constitutional types, the 20 qualities, and how they affect our state of mind, body, and emotions. We will also talk about which diet and lifestyle practices are balancing for each season and dosha (constitution). We will focus on summer diet and Pitta dosha which predominates this season and how to keep yourself cool, calm and relaxed in the heat.


You will leave with a greater understanding of your unique constitution and how to live more in accordance with you true nature by observing a diet and lifestyle that is most balancing for you. You will also receive handouts with material discussed. No prior knowledge is necessary. There will be plenty of time for Q & A! Space is limited, so preregister to save your spot.
